I had a horrible experience with one of the security guards from this company. It was on the night of 07/24/2010 when I visiting someone that lives at the Fountains condominiums (That’s near Sweetwater). It was about 10:00 PM and I was planning to stay for a few hours. In the past I was told by the same security guard lady that I needed an overnight visitor’s pass if I was going to stay past twelve, so I contacted her in order to get one.

I called the security guard lady and asked her nicely if she could meet me in front of where I had parked my car, so she can give me a overnight visitor’s pass and that way I won’t risk the chance of losing my visitor’s parking space. She replied telling me that she had just clocked in to work and she was very tired. She made me drive my car all the way to the security booth on the main entrance (Where she was at). Up to this point I was fine and willing to comply.

Once I got there, I parked my car next to her security booth with the emergency lights on and I made sure that I was not interfering with the flow of incoming and outgoing traffic. I got out of my car and tried to talk to her, but she immediately cut me off and said that she was busy and made me wait about 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes had past, she then started to take my information down for the overnight visitor’s pass (Up to this point I was still complying with her and being polite).

All hell broke loose, when she asked me for my license plate number and I was not able to give her that information from the top of my head. I politely replied to her saying that I’m sorry, but I do not have my license plate number memorized, but my car is parked next to your security booth, so if you can please step outside of your security booth for a minute, you will be able to get that information from my car. To make a long story short, the security guard lady started to scream at me saying that she was not going to step out of her security booth, that I had to go and bring her that information myself (This is where I lost my patience).

I did not curse at her, but I did tell her that I was not going to do her job for her. I had to get into a big argument with her, just to get her to walk 8 steps towards my car, just so I can finally get an overnight visitor’s pass. Throughout this entire experience with her, she was very rude, giving me a nasty attitude, complaining to me about how much she hates her job, and trying to manipulate me to do her job for her.

I am a renter of a condo in Century Parc Flagler and I am extremely dissatisfied with the disrespect and the lack of professionalism portrayed to me by the security of my neighborhood from this company. On 8.24 around 5:30 PM i was trying to enjoy a night in the pool with my girlfriend but had forgotten my key. So I jumped the fence (which I’ve seen others do before) and opened the gate for my girlfriend to walk in. While in the water hugging my girlfriend we were approached by the security guard Egna who asked us how we got in. I immediately told her that i got in without a key and that I was a resident of the neighborhood. I provided my building and room number, explained that i lived here for 6 months and just did not have my key to enter and wanted to enjoy a Friday afternoon in the pool with my girlfriend. We were not bothering anyone. Later Egna mentioned that we were witnessed drinking, laying on top of each other , “up to no good” and had to leave the pool. She then went to the extent to call her “boss” Yesenia to tell me to leave and even threatened to call the police if i did not comply and leave the area. I was completely appalled by the extents she was going through to make me leave the pool of my neighborhood. I then called my landlord to prove that i was indeed a resident and the shouting match began. Between my landlord on speaker, Egna the security guard and Yesenia (the “boss” on Egna’s phone) explaining why i needed to leave the pool at least for the day. Eventually, around 6:45 I decided to leave the pool and take it to the only way I can redeem myself from the disrespect I feel. I can’t help but think that I was so wrongfully undermined and dismissed was because of my color. That they wouldn’t assume I was drinking, laying on top of my girlfriend and “up to no good”. I understand that i should not have gotten in without a key to the pool but my landlord never provided me with such. I did everything I could to communicate properly and try to explain my case and instead, I was dismissed repeatedly. I want the security to understand that a person like me has just as many rights as anyone that lives in the community. All I did was jump a gate, not trespass.
