Wow! That was one of the best sandwich/wraps I’ve had the pleasure of eating (Chicken Caesar wrap) . The flavors were jumping from the first bite to the last. This place doesn’t skim on the food and for that price, two people can eat it. This place is a gem.

This review for Cafe 72 has been long overdue since I fell in love the first time I came here. In a really unsuspecting spot—a ventanita aside a shell gas station exists an eatery run by the great man himself, Frankie, who’s taking latin fusion and just an overall love for good food to the next level! Another great aspect about this place is that it’s open during the day for all your lunch needs and also has a late night menu for the weekends which makes it the perfect spot to feed those drunkchies.

The first menu item we started off with was the cornbread which isn’t served the typical boring way but is instead loaded with crispy bacon, cheese, and scallions. It also comes with a side of honey butter which the perfect balance to all the savoriness of the bread! On a side note we had ordered materva and iron beer to wash it all down—-Cuban soda classics for my meal.

The sandwich I ordered was a frita which was HUGE. It was served on a brioche bun and dressed with lettuce, tomato, a garlic mayo sauce, and freshly fried papitas. Phenomenal and so flavorful. The second sandwich that my boyfriend and I shared was the pan con lechon which is hands down one of my favorites in the city. For size it was once again massive; large chunks of slow cooked mojo pork stuffed under crispy cuban bread with freshly fried pepitas. I could drool just looking over the pic. These guys are the proud winners of Burger Beasts’ Chicken Tender competition so I would definitely recommend ordering that too because I bet it’s amazing, but definitely want to come back to explore more of their menu especially their late night bowls that come with things like shrimp and fried chicken.

We ended our meal with Frankie’s famous colada which is no usual colada you can find anywhere else and that’s because he whips egg into the espumita so it’s extremely rich and creamy. Once again, best colada I’ve ever had in Miami and if you’re a colada lover than you need to jump in your car and go try this immediately. We also had their flan served with icecream, a colada syrup, and guava—–every cuban’s dessert dreams achieved all in one with this!

Can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu, haven’t been this excited about an eatery in a long while. The best way to see what’s in store for you when you go is to check out their instagram which I stalk religiously!
