I can’t comment on Florida Fire Safety’s main business, but I would like to tell about my experience with the company. I called them to ask if they fill CO2 tanks; I had a 20lb tank for a mosquito trap. The woman on the phone said yes, so I took the tank in to them on a Monday. When the woman saw the tank, she said she wasn’t sure if they could fill it since it wasn’t a fire extinguisher, but I should leave the tank and she would ask the technician the next day, as he wasn’t there. I left the tank and called on Tuesday; she said the technician would be able to fill the tank. It would be $3 per pound, plus a $20 charge for hydrostatic testing since it was an old tank – a total of $80. I told her it wasn’t an old tank; I had just ordered it from Amazon, and the description said it was a new tank. She assured me that it was old, and that the date (2002) was stamped right on the tank. She said that it should be ready by the afternoon and she would call me. I received no call, so I called her again on Wednesday. She said the technician was out, and that he had to order a part for the tank. At this point I said that I would just like to pick up the tank and take it somewhere else. She then told me that it was taken apart and in their testing tank; it would be ready by noon on Thursday. I showed up at noon Thursday and was told that the tank was not ready, so I simply asked to have the tank returned to me. Within a few minutes a man brought it to the front, completely intact. I asked if there had been a part ordered for it; I thought I might have to pay for that. They informed me that nothing had been done to the tank. When I got it home, I called the company who had sold it through Amazon; they were shocked to hear that it was old, and they told me where to find the date on the tank; it said 06/12 – brand new. I took the tank to another local company – Tech Air by Bird Road. They filled the tank in 5 minutes for $24. I have no idea what was going on with Florida Fire Safety, or why they continued to lie to me about the tank. If they couldn’t fill it, they should have just said so from the beginning. If they run the rest of their business this way, I would not do business with them.
