I was looking to sell my 2017 Subaru Impreza Limited Sedan with 10,800 miles on it and I first went on KBB and tried their “instant value” tool since KBB is known as the industry standard that dealerships use to value vehicles but they gave me a really low offer of $12,400 for my vehicle which I thought was an unfair and really low offer so I tried other alternatives.

The next place I tried to get a quote from was Carvana who had a really simple process on their website where you honestly fill in the condition of your vehicle (excellent being showcar condition, just okay being what most people fall into, and bad being if your vehicle needs mechanical work) and then you have little checkboxes for types of damage that the vehicle has like dings, dents, scratches, rust, scrapes, etc. Once you fill in the information for the condition and mileage of the vehicle Carvana will give you an instant offer for it and if you decide to accept it you then upload copies of your title and drivers license and schedule an appointment to either drop off your vehicle or have Carvana pick it up. The offer that Carvana gave me was for $16,000 which was better than KBB’s instant offer of $12,400 that I received but I still wanted to try one more place before selling my vehicle to Carvana since I also heard good things about selling cars to Carmax.

I scheduled an appointment to have my vehicle inspected by Carmax and drove it to their Miami Lakes location to see how much they would offer for my vehicle. Carmax doesnt let you know automatically on their website how much they offer for your vehicle like Carvana does so I had to drive there and have them inspect my vehicle before I could get an offer. The offer that Carmax gave me was for $16,000 which was $19 lower than the offer from Carvana, I asked them if they could price match or beat Carvana’s offer but they said that they cant negotiate a higher price so I sold my vehicle to Carvana.

I scheduled an appointment to go drop off my vehicle at the Carvana location that they emailed me and I was greeted as soon as I walked in through the door. A few minutes later the person who inspects the vehicles came and told me how the process works and asked for my car keys to inspect my vehicle while I waited inside the lobby area. A few minutes later he came back and we signed the paperwork to sell my vehicle to Carvana, the process couldnt have been easier! Carvana even gave me a free Uber ride back to my house after I sold them my vehicle which is something that Carmax doesnt offer.

I was highly satisfied with selling my vehicle to Carvana, it was a fast, easy experience, their offer was fair, and they even gave me a free ride back home.

After spending more than 60 days trying to sell my car through multiple online platforms like KBB, AutoTrader, and even local apps like NextDoor, I was struggling to find either a buyer or a fair offer for my vehicle.
