Ever heard of a term legal robbery? Well basically I bought $180 sunglasses. Oakley, I thought, was a great, quality brand and they said I had 3 months to return the product if I wished. After 2 months, and only 2 or 3 times wearing them for short periods, because my gf didn’t like them, I decided to return them and not even get my money back but get a more expensive replacement. They asked me for the BOX, yes the small 3 cent worth CARDBOARD BOX that the glasses are sold in. I told them I didn’t have it. Two managers went away, had a look at the glasses and returned and they said they couldn’t do it without the box. I told them that was unacceptable from such a high end brand (buying the same Oakley knock off costs around $50 btw) that charges premium prices, so they came up with a story that there was a small scratch on the glasses – I tried looking for it and didn’t find it, I insisted that they show me and they kept pointing at nothing, simply lying their way out. I left the store, wrote to customer service, GOT NO REPLY??? and then ended up finding the cardboard box that they were sold in. Went back 10 days later so they’d forget me, went in and said “I found the box” and voila, they let me to an exchange (apparently the scratch had disappeared??). I don’t think it’s mostly their fault (trying to lie about the scratch was), they were trying to be polite but I think it’s the general Oakley policy that you have to keep the box to make your return is absolutely laughable from such a company. The end result is I will NEVER buy Oakley glasses again and will instead find a cheap frame that I like somewhere and get custom made lenses – I’ll get higher quality at a cheaper price, all because they decided to disrespect their premium price paying customers. end rant. Respect to anyone who reads this all the way through, you have a great day 😉
